EARLY LIFE
Danny Ross studied speech and drama at LAMDA and the South African Film Institute, receiving coaching from Dorothy Ann Gould. He began performing in theatre productions in 2007, with notable roles in plays such as 'Tata ma Chance', 'The Princess and the Pea', 'Umoya Wezihlahla', 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream', 'Sasol Fever', and 'Romeo and Juliet'.
CAREER
In 2010, Danny Ross achieved third place in the SABC1 reality competition for actors, 'Class Act'. His first starring role was as Jason Prince in the SABC2 drama series 'Swartwater'. His filmography includes appearances in feature films like 'Death Race 3', '24 Hours To Live' (starring Ethan Hawke), 'Nommer 37', and 'Barakat' (which was submitted for the 94th Annual Academy Awards). On television, he has featured in telenovelas such as 'Broken Vows' (ETV) and 'Arendsvlei' (kykNET), and soap operas including '7de Laan' (SABC2), 'Binnelanders', 'Villa Rosa', and 'Suidooster' (kykNET), for which he received a Tempo award nomination for best male actor. Ross has also appeared in various local and international TV commercials, including a recent campaign alongside Gerard Butler and a 3D campaign showcased in New York Time Square, Piccadilly Circus, and Paris. More recently, he has starred in the South African film 'Late Bloomer' (Showmax) and series such as 'Desert Rose' (Showmax), 'Spinners' (Showmax), 'Ludik' (Netflix), and 'Resident Evil' (Netflix). Upcoming projects include the films 'Frankie and Felipe', 'Niemandsdorp', and 'Neelan and Kevin'.
PERSONAL LIFE
Outside of acting, Danny Ross is also a poet and musician. He has released three songs – 'Laaitie van n Recce', 'Hey Brown Child', and 'Donker Dag' – under his stage name DD Ross.
