Biography
EARLY LIFE
Cyril Stober was born in Niger State, Nigeria. He attended Fatima Secondary Secondary, which is now known as Father O'Connell Science College, Minna.
CAREER
Stober dedicated over three decades to his professional career as a newscaster and journalist. His primary role involved anchoring the news at 9 pm on NTA Network and NTA prime time news. He was recognized for his signature attire, which included a native outfit, cap, and glasses. Following rumors of his retirement in 2015, he continued to surprise viewers by anchoring the news. On April 21, 2019, Stober officially retired from the Nigerian Broadcasting Authority. However, he remains a Nigerian icon and continues to anchor regular NTA network programming even after his retirement.
PERSONAL LIFE
Cyril Stober was previously married to Efun Merriman-Johnson, an ex-broadcaster who also worked at the Nigerian Television Authority, until their divorce. He has three children (two daughters and a son) from this marriage. On January 13, 2019, Stober married Elizabeth Banu, who is also a newscaster with the NTA, in her hometown of Garkida, Adamawa State, Nigeria.
