CAREER

Colette Otusheso is an experienced marketing, communications, and project management professional with over 20 years of experience. She has championed organizational-wide initiatives within cross-functional teams in global and local organizations. Her experience includes roles with VIACOM International Media Networks Africa and MNET Africa. As Marketing and Events Manager at MNET, she was instrumental in the successful launch of several Africa Magic channels and the marketing of major properties like Big Brother Africa, Tinsel, Naija Sings, and Face of Africa. At VIACOM, she spearheaded significant MTV, Nickelodeon, and BET projects in Nigeria, including the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA's), the award-winning MTV Shuga, MTV meets, MTV Africa All Stars, MTV VJ Search, BET Awards, BET Top Actor, and Dora the Explorer financial literacy campaigns. Colette is currently the Head of Accelerate, a Lagos-based multi-media content creation startup inspired by Access Bank. Accelerate, launched in 2016, is an online youth-focused digital content entertainment hub specializing in educational, empowering, and entertaining content for African millennials. Through Accelerate, she created The Accelerate Filmmaker project, a multifaceted film training program for young budding filmmakers (25 and under), which provides capacity building, training, and mentorship in storytelling, scriptwriting, producing, directing, and filmmaking. The project has trained over 150 young Nigerians and directly impacted over 1000 Nigerian youth. Short films produced through this project have been showcased at various local and international film festivals and have won multiple awards, including the Africa Magic Viewer's Choice Awards and the Filmone and Moet & Chandon Film Gala for Best Short Film.

PERSONAL LIFE

In 2015, Colette Otusheso was recognized as one of the 15 most powerful women in Nigerian entertainment. In 2017, she was named one of International Women's Day's 10 most popular women in Nigerian entertainment. Leading Ladies Africa named her among the top 50 leading women in corporate Nigeria in 2019. In the same year, the United Nations-backed MIPAD organization recognized her as one of 100 high achievers of African Descent around the world in media and culture. She was also named a Top 100 Career Woman in Nigeria. Colette has spoken at The Georgetown University’s Africa Business conference on 'The African Value Chain: Harnessing Local Talent and Opportunity and the importance of Media and Entertainment in developing the African continent'.
