EARLY LIFE

Chigan Madu was birthed on the 4th of May to the family of Mr George Maduemezia and Mrs Gladys Maduemezia. He was born in the city of Lagos, where he was also brought up alongside his siblings. Eight days after his birth, the Maduemezias christened their son, Charles Maduemezia. He is an Igbo boy and hails from the southeast region, Delta State. He was raised in the Christian faith, learning biblical teachings whenever he attended church. As a young boy, he joined the Drama unit in his local church and did the same in school, where he was an active member of the Drama society. Though he acted well in school plays and church dramas, Chigan Madu took a special interest in working backstage and took up the role of a director. He also worked as a costumier and stage manager.

CAREER

Chigan Madu is a versatile Nigerian cinematographer, filmmaker, actor, producer, and digital content creator with over a decade of experience in the entertainment industry. He began his professional journey in 2012 after university, working with Cameleon Multimedia as an online manager before transitioning to on-field production and cinematography. He developed his skills through self-study via YouTube and mentorship from the company's CEO, Femi Job. Early in his career, he served as Director of Photography (DOP) on shows like "Naijaplaylist Jam Session" for Cool FM, Naija Info, and Wazobia. In 2014, he became Head of Content at Naijaplaylist on Cool FM Nigeria. By 2017, he was Head of Production at Pranks Nigeria, where he created viral comedy skits and prank videos across Nigeria's 36 states. He has directed music videos and shot comedy skits for popular comedians and creators, including Mc Makopolo, Kc Brown, Etinosa, Monkals, Monica Friday, Memory Card, Destalker, and Demgohearword. A notable early achievement was in 2013 when he shot and edited a viral music video for the female artist group "Sugar Girls," helping them secure a 20 million naira sponsorship. He founded CMMusic Worldwide Entertainment, a record label and professional music services company, in 2017 after gaining experience in music videos, shows, and events. He has produced and directed projects like The Prank Movie: Human Parts Saga (2021), where he also acted and served as cinematographer and editor. His filmography includes acting and production roles in various Nollywood projects. As a filmmaker and cinematographer, he is known for his trademark slogan "Shot by Chigan Madu" and has worked with top Nollywood directors such as Tchidi Chikere. He has received the Maya Award for Best Cinematographer in 2015. Beyond film, he is a popular Instagram digital creator and comedian, known for his comedy skits and lifestyle content. He also works as a talent manager and voice character (e.g., for "Room Service"). His entrepreneurial ventures extend to content creation and production services, and he has been recognized for nurturing young talent in the industry. He continues to expand his work in filmmaking, production, and digital media.

PERSONAL LIFE

Chigan Madu maintains a relatively private personal life, with limited public details available about his spouse, children, or immediate family beyond his parents and siblings. He is known for his strong Christian faith, which has influenced his values and philanthropic efforts. A visit to the Arrow of God Orphanage Home in Lagos opened his eyes to the struggles of less privileged individuals, inspiring him to focus on giving back. He has donated food items, gifts, and support to orphanages and the fatherless, viewing it as a divine calling to be his "brother's keeper." He emphasizes humility, nurturing talent, and making a positive impact on society. He is active on social media, where he occasionally shares personal reflections alongside professional content.
