Bukky Wonda

EARLY LIFE

Bukky Abaniwonda, professionally known as Bukky Wonda, was born in Nigeria to Nigerian parents. She is the second of five siblings. Shortly after her birth, her family relocated to Abuja, Nigeria, where she spent most of her childhood. She attended Command Day Secondary School in Abuja and later earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Bowen University in Iwo, Osun State, Nigeria. Around 2013, she immigrated to Canada as an international student to pursue an MBA in finance at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

CAREER

Bukky Wonda began her professional acting career in 2015. Her notable acting roles include Tobi in the TV series 'Awkward Things About Losing Weight' (2018–2019), Iyobosa in 'Carpe Diem' (2021), Funmi in the short film 'Bridges' (2019), and Nma in '2 Weeks in Lagos' (2019). She made her directorial debut in 2020 with 'The African Family', an African-Canadian drama series which she also produced and starred in as Uche. She is the founder and creative director of Wonda Studios, a production company specializing in story-driven content. Beyond entertainment, she is also the founder and CEO of Shirah Technologies, launched in 2017, which provides technology-driven immigration solutions to newcomers to Canada, where she is a licensed immigration consultant.

PERSONAL LIFE

Bukky Wonda resides in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She is involved in church-related community service, including serving meals at an old people's home and sponsoring individuals for vocational training. She is an advocate against violence against women, using her platform in filmmaking to raise awareness and promote change. She maintains privacy regarding her marital status and children.
