EARLY LIFE
Bilal Wanjau was the son of Ibrahim Bilali, a former flyweight boxer who won a bronze medal in the flyweight division at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
CAREER
Bilal Wanjau's acting career spanned comedy, drama, short films, and major TV productions, establishing him as one of Kenya’s most recognisable actors. His breakthrough came in 2009 through the "Utahama Lini" commercial. Key television roles include Kasoro Bin Kasoro in Jela 5 Star (2017–2019), Chief Ruto in Janjaruka (2019), an appearance in 4Play (2024), and Kingsley in Skandals Kibao (2015–2016). He also appeared in 'Pepeta' (2022) and 'The Play That Goes Wrong' (2023). Notable film appearances include Gamble of the Kid (2022), Wimped (2021), Sand Castles (2020), Millet (2019), Wavamizi (2018), The Runaway (2017), Oyundi (2015), 'Bazenga' (2023), and 'It’s a Free Country' (2024).
PERSONAL LIFE
Wanjau lived with type 2 diabetes and passed away while battling pneumonia and a leg wound at Kenyatta National Hospital. Preparations for his burial were underway in Machakos County.
