Biography
EARLY LIFE
Babasola Olawale Fatunmbi was born on May 3rd, 1964, in the city of Lagos, to Dr. Babatunde Olawale and Mrs. Olusolabomi Kokumo Fatunmbi. He was fondly called “Hello Babs” by his favorite auntie and guardian, Aunty Bose Salami. He started his primary school at Abadina primary school, Ibadan in 1968 and later attended Our Lady of Fatima College, Ikire, St Finbarr's College, Akoka, Yaba, and obtained his school certificate at Methodist Boy's High School, Oron. In 1985, Babs joined the University of Lagos where he studied Chemistry. As an athlete, Babs was a member of the Basketball team that won gold at the NUGA games 88/89, and he also participated in several swimming competitions. He completed his NYSC at Port Harcourt, where he stayed for another three years.
CAREER
Babs taught Chemistry, Science, Math, and Fine Arts, and his students loved his teaching methods. He also taught Chess, Music, and Basketball. He was known for his musical talent, joining the Turning Point band in Unilag as a Bass Guitarist and playing the classic guitar at leisure. He was a gifted writer, an artist (painting and drawing portraits), a graphic artist/designer, and participated in radio jingles. He had a brief career in acting, including a role in the 2017 film '5th Floor'. He was also a stand-up comedian and an MC.
PERSONAL LIFE
Babs Fatunmbi was described as caring, with a loving heart for all who experienced and knew him. He was known for being very funny, always full of jokes and magic tricks, which children particularly loved, convinced he was a magician. He inspired many youths, colleagues, and siblings with his talents.
