Biography

EARLY LIFE

At the age of 11, Fashola moved to Peckham, South London, England. He graduated with a distinction in business from Peckham Academy in 2010. He also studied business law at Crossways College (now Christ the King Sixth Form College). While growing up, Fashola had plans of becoming an MC and a voice-over artist.

CAREER

He began rapping in 2013 after discovering his passion for music. He released the Max Twigz-assisted track 'Marry Juana' before releasing his debut EP 'Gotta Dance' in 2014. In December 2017, he released the Olamide and Lil Kesh-assisted single 'Issa Goal', which became the theme song for the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. His musical style spans Afrobeats, Street pop, and hip-hop. He derived his stage name from Jamaican singer Bob Marley. In 2019, he released 'Am I A Yahoo Boy' and 'Soapy', winning Viewers' Choice for 'Soapy' at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards. He also released his second EP 'Lord of Lamba' in 2019 and announced the launch of his record label Marlian Records. In 2021, he announced a new album 'God's Timing Is The Best'. Naira Marley made his official Nollywood acting debut in the 2019 film titled The Enemy I Know

PERSONAL LIFE

On 10 May 2019, he was arrested by the EFCC and charged with 11 counts of fraud. He was released on bail on 14 June 2019. In 2020, he was detained by the Nigerian Police Force for flouting lockdown orders and performing at a concert in Abuja. In February 2021, a Valentine's Concert in Cameroon was cancelled. On 5 October 2022, he was accused of assault by his signee MohBad.
