Biography

EARLY LIFE

Anis Halloway was born in 1983 in Freetown, Sierra Leone. His early life was disrupted by the Sierra Leone Civil War, which he survived. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2001, where he pursued studies in sound engineering and music production at Lewisham College in South East London.

CAREER

By 2003, Anis signed with independent label GDM Records as a songwriter and artist, releasing his promo single 'Eyes on Me' in 2004. He continued as an independent songwriter and music producer, collaborating with artists like Blak Twang, Sway, and Silvastone. In 2009, he returned to Freetown, Sierra Leone, and joined Capital Radio as an on-air personality (OAP), releasing his debut album 'Small Beginnings.' Later that year, he represented Sierra Leone on the Endemol music TV show 'Project Fame' in Nigeria. In Nigeria, he joined Nigezie as a TV presenter, scriptwriter, voiceover artist, and playlist supervisor. He hosted the maiden edition of Nigerian Idol in 2011 and dabbled in acting with roles in 'Tinsel' and 'Desperate Housewives Africa.' He worked as A&R/Artist Manager at Sam Kargbo Productions, a music producer for 'Star The Winner Is,' a talent scout and audition judge for 'The Voice Nigeria,' and music director for 'I Love Nigeria.' He also worked as a Technical & Creative Consultant and Sound Designer for 76 Media. More recently, Anis has directed content for Africa Magic TV and Showmax.com, with successful shows like 'Hustle,' 'Unmarried,' 'What Will People Say,' 'Shoot Your Shot,' and 'Agu.' His directing work on the crime drama series 'Truth' garnered critical acclaim and secured the AMVCA for Best TV Series in Drama/Comedy in 2020.

PERSONAL LIFE

Anis Halloway married Uche Ikejimba, a television producer, on October 17, 2015, in Lagos, Nigeria. He describes himself as a 'creative onion' due to his many layers and talents. His creative influences draw deeply from his Sierra Leonean roots, including theatre and gospel traditions, which later fused with the UK underground scene's soulful house sounds and afrobeats upon relocating to Nigeria.
