Biography
EARLY LIFE
Akinnayajo Babatunde was born into the family of Mr and Mrs Caleb Akinnayajo. He is the first son and second child of the family. He holds a B.Sc. , M.Sc. and professional certificates. He started his filmmaking career professionally in 2013 after completing his filmmaking course under an American Filmmaker. He has worked in several capacities in the entertainment industry in Nigeria from being a logistician to being a mobilizer and organizer with entertainment brands both home and abroad.
CAREER
He shot his first film (a short film) "Bodhisattva" in 2014 and has never stopped creating since then. He has directed and produced several music videos including international Artistes under brands like Star Boy Records , Dr Dolor Entertainment etc amongst many others. He has produced contents and television productions for other international brands like Aurum productions USA, Amplify Africa USA, Laff Theory USA etc. He has directed several TV shows for streaming platforms and terrestrial TV; Shows like Fashion Shock Show with Kiekie, Style Review, Spaces, The Chat Room, In Style to mention a few. Having trained under veteran Actors and Filmmakers with track record of successes, Tunez has played key roles in high end productions within and outside Nigeria for reputable brands in the last decade. He has creatively directed and produced commercials campaigns for Multi-National brands like Nivea , Tap Tap Send , Amplify Africa amongst so many others. He has produced short films that has made international screens and nominations. His film "The interview" was selected among the only 30 films from Africa in AFRIFF 2018, "Honeymoon" was screened at both In-short film festival and Abuja International Festival. He has directed other short films like Scan, Sex (1-4), hepatoma, Inside Life etc. His first official feature film "Midnight" shot in five cities across the world, made it to the cinemas in December 2019 after which was premiered on Africa Magic TV Channels in Africa. His first experimental feature "Hangout" was also premiered in Nigeria in 2018. He released a television feature film titled "whirl" in 2020 which was released on a UK streaming platform and also on several platforms across the globe. In 2023, his blockbuster film, ÀRÌNFESÈSÍ (A day of misfortune) was released nationwide Nigeria and some other African countries; getting two outstanding nominations at Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF). ÀRÌNFESÈSÍ which was produced and directed by him after enjoying theatrical release has gotten In flight deals with two reputable international airlines with more deals in the pipeline. He is the President and Founder of the non- profit Project ; Photoscenelenses Africa aimed at equipping, empowering and mentoring Africa creatives (youths) for free. This course has trained over 3000 creatives for free since inception. He is also the founder of his media production company ; Unique Motion Media Konsult under which his productions function.
PERSONAL LIFE
He is married to Samantha blessed with a son named Tunez.
