Biography
EARLY LIFE
Akin Sofoluwe attended Government College Ibadan (GCI) where he acted on stage. He studied Agriculture at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and also engaged in acting, notably performing in Ola Rotimi’s 'The gods Are Not to Blame' in 1968. He also traveled to France with Rotimi to perform at the World's Festival of Arts.
CAREER
Sofoluwe began his academic career as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Ife in the 1970s. He later worked as a Production Officer at the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Abeokuta, where he was involved in producing shows like Baba Sala's 'My Pickin' and Oyin Adejobi's 'Kootu Ashipa', leaving NTA in 1987. He pursued a post-graduate diploma in Theatre Arts at the University of Ibadan, specializing in Broadcasting and Cinematography. He earned a doctorate degree in Agricultural Communication from the University of Agriculture Abeokuta (UNAAB) where he also lectured. He later lectured at the Department of Communication Studies, Lagos State University, Ojo, from where he retired. He was also a member of the pioneering Ori Olokun Acting Company.

Dr. Akin Sofoluwe is a retired academic and actor. He has expressed concerns about the state of Nigeria and the erosion of traditional Nigerian cultures, advocating for more appreciation and research into indigenous practices like Ifa.
