EARLY LIFE
Akin Kongi, born Akinola Kongi on April 1, 1966, in the United Kingdom, has an academic background in business and finance, and later pursued studies in insurance. He worked in the insurance sector for approximately 15–20 years, eventually leaving as Executive Director of Triumph Assurance Company Limited. He is described as an Ibadan man of Yoruba origin, currently based in Lagos. In 2009, Kongi attended the New York Film Academy, where he completed a diploma in directing from January to April of that year.
CAREER
Akin Kongi is a British filmmaker known for his work as a director, producer, writer, and actor. He is the founder and principal figure of Akins Squared Limited, a privately held film and television production and distribution company headquartered in London, England, incorporated on September 25, 2018. He transitioned into filmmaking after enrolling at the New York Film Academy in 2009. His credits include directing and producing films like 'Oosa Aafin' (2022) and 'Ogere' (in post-production). Prior to his filmmaking career, he worked as a photographer and video producer collaborating with organizations such as MTN, Total, the Goethe Institute, and the West African Power Pool.
