Aderombi Adedayo Martin, professionally known as Dee-One, is a Nigerian stand-up comedian, reality TV star, and social media influencer. Born on April 4, 1993, in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, he is the eldest of three children. His family later relocated to Ikoyi, Lagos, where he spent most of his formative years.

CAREER

Dee-One gained national recognition in 2018 as a contestant on Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), one of Nigeria’s biggest reality TV shows. His charismatic personality and sharp sense of humor quickly won him a fan base, significantly propelling his career in the entertainment industry. After BBNaija, he transitioned into full-time stand-up comedy, performing at major events and comedy shows across Nigeria. Known for his witty storytelling and observational humor, Dee-One has built a strong presence in the Nigerian comedy scene. Beyond live performances, Dee-One has become a popular digital content creator, sharing comedic skits and social commentary across various social media platforms. One of his most significant controversies was his feud with Martin Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, over allegations surrounding the Nedu Foundation scandal. The controversy started when Dee-One appeared on The Honest Bunch Podcast, hosted by Nedu Wazobia. During the discussion, he made explosive claims, alleging that: Martin Otse (Verydarkman) is gay, Otse embezzled ₦20 million from an NGO fund. In response, Martin Otse launched an online smear campaign against Nedu Wazobia, accusing him of defrauding a non-existent UK-based charity of ₦60 million. However, further investigation revealed that the alleged UK NGO did not exist, casting doubt on Otse’s claims. As the controversy escalated, Dee-One took an active role in countering Verydarkman’s allegations, frequently addressing the issue through social media posts and live videos. He accused Otse of: Manipulation and character assassination, Misinformation and online bullying, Using false narratives to discredit others. Alongside fellow critics like Felix Michael Asam, Blessing CEO, Dee-One released multiple videos dissecting Otse’s tactics, exposing what he described as a pattern of deceit. Dee-One has publicly stated that he reported Verydarkman to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of: Sexual misconduct, Misappropriation of NGO funds, Abuse of minors. However, as of now, the EFCC has not officially summoned Verydarkman, and the allegations remain unverified. Despite this, Dee-One continues to use his Instagram platform daily to challenge and reprimand Verydarkman, maintaining that an investigation is still ongoing. Dee-One’s outspoken stance has sparked mixed reactions across digital platforms. While some appreciate his commitment to exposing alleged fraud and misinformation, others criticize him for making serious allegations without concrete evidence. Regardless of the controversy, Dee-One remains vocal and unrelenting, positioning himself as a watchdog against media manipulation and deception in Nigeria’s digital space.
