EARLY LIFE

Ariyo Oluwakemisola Apesin, better known as Kemity or Aunty Sidi, was born on 29 September 1980 in Cotonou, Benin Republic, to Nigerian parents of Yoruba descent. She grew up with a strong passion for the arts and entertainment from a young age, showing natural talent for acting and storytelling. Kemity pursued her education at Lagos State Polytechnic, where she studied Business Management (the institution has ties to what is now known as Lagos State University of Science and Technology). She started her acting career around 2005, initially balancing it with other interests. Her early exposure to theater groups and performances helped shape her skills in both comedy and emotional drama. Growing up between Benin Republic and Nigeria, she developed fluency in Yoruba and English, which later became assets in her Yoruba Nollywood career. Her journey from a young film enthusiast to a professional actress reflects determination and a deep love for the craft.

CAREER

Kemity is a prominent Yoruba Nollywood actress, movie producer, and content creator recognized for her versatile performances in both comedy and serious dramatic roles. She gained widespread popularity through the hit series Sidi Goes to School and has appeared in films such as Return of Kesari. Her career took off around 2005, and she has since built a strong reputation for mixing light-hearted comedy with emotional depth, making her a fan favorite. Beyond acting, she works as a movie producer, makeup artist, and costume designer. She runs her own YouTube channel, Kemity TV, where she shares content, skits, and behind-the-scenes glimpses. Kemity also owns a gold business called Kemityempire Limited, showcasing her entrepreneurial side. Her work spans traditional Nollywood films and modern streaming projects, with notable appearances in recent productions like Koleoso (as Osobola) and other titles in development. PERSONAL LIFE

Kemity is a mother of two children from different fathers. She has openly addressed public criticism about her family life in interviews, explaining the circumstances without shame. Her first pregnancy happened as a teenager while still in secondary school, shortly before her SSCE exams. Her mother supported her by insisting she continue her education rather than rushing into marriage. The father of her first child was later killed in a Nigerian hotel after returning from Malaysia; Kemity received news of his death and went to the scene, where only about 300 dollars was found with him (believed to have been stolen). This made her a widow at a young age. For her second child, she met the father during computer training. They had a court wedding, but challenges arose, including his extramarital affairs after she became pregnant. She eventually left the marriage when he claimed his spiritual leader (Alfa) advised that he could not succeed unless they separated. Kemity has emphasized that leaving was never her intention and that outsiders do not know the full painful details of her experiences. In April 2025, she announced her engagement, marking a new chapter. She currently lives in Lagos and maintains a relatively private personal life while using her platform to inspire others through resilience. Kemity is known for her warm personality, often blending humor with real-life struggles in her content and roles.
